Is Marcus Brutus An Honorable Man? :: Julius Caesar Essays
In deciding whether or not a individual is sound, all of their characteristics must be figureed at. That person might serve good on the outside, but if their heart is exposed they may notlook as perfective tense as belief. In Shakespeare&8217s Julius Caesar, Brutus is a perfect example ofthis idea. He is sympathetic, kind, and generous, but when his motives are questioned, hedoes not look so sensitive. Brutus is not an honorable man.Brutus was a very egotistical and egoistical person. He continually ignoredCassius&8217 and the conspirators&8217 ideas. He was the leader and everyone was supposed to goalong with them. Not to mention that all of his decisions went against Cassius and theywere all the wrong moves. Brutus refused to know that he was wrong or listen to otherpeople. He had a big ego and was obviously used to being in charge. When Cassiusthought it was a bad idea to leave Sardis and go to Phillipi to fight Antony, Brutus did simply the opposite. His idea of title- holdership should be questioned because he constantlydisagreed with Cassius, his best friend, and that is not what friendship is all about.Brutus did not value the people around him. along with ignoring his friends, hekilled his closest friend of all time. For most normal people, putting to death their best friendwould not even be an issue, no return what they thought was best for their country. Ifthey thought something bad could be run acrossing, they would talk to that friend and tellthem what they bet and how it should be resolved. No real friend would take form toconclusions and make such a drastic decision as cleanup position that person. Brutus also did notvalue his wife, Portia. He was never home for her and, eventually, sort out of her suicidewas linked to this. To drive her to suicide was a very selfish act on Brutus&8217 part. Heshould have been there for his wife. Brutus did not think about his actions before they were done. He didn&8217t thinkabout what would happe n to the Roman conglomerate if Caesar were killed. By assinatingCaesar he started a civil war. He ruined an entire empire by his quick and stupiddescions. Many, some people died that did not need to. How can a person be consideredhonorable when they were responsible for so many lost lives and the loss of an empire? Brutus was not a very good military leader.
